An area of gameplay lacking in The Sims 4 is music, specifically, a robust career as a record company CEO. The game currently allows for violin playing, guitar, piano, keyboard, DJing, and creating mixtapes. Of course, that requires the proper packs.
You’ll need the Music Industry Mod by Wicked Pixxel to make this a reality. This mod includes a custom recording label and a recording studio venue. Set up either venue to run and operate your record label.
What I love about this mod is that it includes several NPC Sims in the gameplay. For example, you’re required to put together a band as part of your talent, and you need to use a music attorney to negotiate a recording contract. The band you sign to your record label can go into the studio and record its own album.
After you’ve created the album, you can release it and promote it to earn money for the record label. Becoming the record label CEO is an easy process of just going into CAS and giving yourself the Record Label CEO trait.
Create your own record label with an area for a recording studio. Use this area to record and release albums. The recording process requires you to first find your own musical talent. Each band you create is made up of 3 Sims. There has to be a vocal artist, piano player, and guitar player. You can create these Sims in CAS or go out and find them on your own. To form these music groups, just click on the Sim you want to be in the group and offer them a record deal. This is exciting gameplay to me because these are deals you need to negotiate through a lawyer.
I also need to mention that money is needed to purchase the Record Label venue. It works like the retail business in Get To Work. I should also mention that the Get To Work Expansion Pack is required for this mod to work.
Now that you have your music talent, the negotiation process is a social event. This includes an attorney fee as well. Running your own record label is very expensive. Hopefully your talent can earn enough money to make it worth while.
During negotiations, keep building up the friendship with the attorney until the Agree To A Deal interaction shows up. Using this interaction will create a new menu for you to use. Remember to sign each member of the music group to the record deal separately. Once they’re part of your label, you can put them into the recording studio to create their own album.
The recording session is a social event, too. You will need to select all the band members and CEO. Click on the band members one at a time to have them record their tracks. You will just ask them to create a track and they’ll autonomously do that. Helps to have the required instruments in one area of the recording studio.
Once the band records all the required tracks, you can create a full album. The album is in the CEO’s inventory and must move on to the promotion phase or running a record label. All you’ll need to do is upload the album to a streaming service and earn a huge payout.
The gameplay is fun for this mod, bringing functional record labels and recording studios to The Sims 4.
